Briana Rivera
Attorney
Briana Rivera brings nearly three decades of litigation experience and an unwavering commitment to the protection of vulnerable adults to Garcia & Coman. Rivera’s work on these cases began in the late 1980’s at a New Orleans law firm where she worked on nursing home abuse and neglect matters from the ground up, progressing from administrative assistant to law clerk to of-counsel attorney. There, she gained foundational experience in the investigation and trial of cases that would come to define her career.
From the late 1990’s and spanning nearly two decades, Rivera co-counseled with attorneys across the country who sought her expertise in the investigation and litigation of nursing home abuse and neglect matters. From the early 2000’s to 2024, Rivera also gained experience in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury, employment law, and mass action lawsuits.
Prior to joining Garcia & Coman, Rivera served as director and litigation consultant at a consulting firm to the Department of Justice where she provided liability analysis and litigation support on health care fraud and failures of care matters, primarily focusing on nursing home misconduct.
Rivera is a published author and has lectured in the field of nursing home litigation, having co-presented at conferences sponsored by the Department of Justice, Mealey’s, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and having authored chapters for two editions of Nursing Home Litigation: Pretrial Practice and Trials (Lawyers & Judges Publishing Company).
