Trucker trapped in semi accident in Broward County
Just when the evening commute began in Miramar the other night, a big-rig truck overturned on the north side of Interstate 75, trapping the 67 year-old driver inside. It is not known what caused the driver to hit a guardrail and then flip over. The driver was partially submerged upside down in a shallow canal – Miramar and Pembroke Pines fire department rescue workers extricated him from the cab.
The driver was airlifted to Memorial Regional Hospital’s trauma department after the Broward Sheriff’s office Air Rescue plane landed on the highway – closing the lanes. It is a miracle that only the big-rig was involved in this accident.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident. It is believed that the truck driver was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
