Truck driver dies in 3-vehicle accident

Archives, Trucking Accidents, Wrongful Death

An early morning Saturday accident killed a semi tractor-trailer driver from Lakeland, according to Florida Highway Patrol.  The semi driver was traveling west on SR60; there was also a minivan traveling close by.  Both vehicles were approached by a pick-up truck traveling east.

According to FHP reports, the 47-year old semi driver drove into the eastbound lane and into the path of the pick-up truck, causing the pick-up to rotate counter clockwise.  The semi also rotated clockwise and jackknifed, ending on the highway’s shoulder before it overturned and stopped in a ditch.

The pickup truck ended up in the path of the minivan where they collided.  The pickup rotated clockwise, causing it to overturn on the shoulder of the road.  The minivan did likewise.  The semi driver was dead at the scene while the other drivers sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital, along with a passenger, for treatment.

The accident remains under investigation.  I hope the other drivers contact an experienced Florida Trucking Attorney who will investigate what happened and determine if they are eligible for compensation for their injuries and expenses.
