Semi-truck flips in Cantonment, Florida

Archives, Trucking Accidents

Muscogee Road in Escambia County, Florida (near Alabama) was closed for hours when a tractor-trailer carrying a cargo of paper and driven by 60-year old man of Georgia, lost control and flipped on its side blocking all traffic lanes early the other morning.  The right rear wheels went off the road.

It is unknown what caused this accident that did not involve any other vehicles.  Authorities believe the driver tried to get back onto Muscogee Road and caused the back of the trailer to fishtail – throwing the cargo off-balance.  The driver was treated by the Escambia County Fire Rescue team for minor injuries.

Highway crews cleaned up the debris that was on the road and a tow truck helped get the 18-wheeler upright.  Muscogee Road was closed for hours.  Officials are investigating why the truck’s wheels went off the road – excessive speed has not been ruled out and it is not believed that drugs or alcohol were involved.  The truck driver was not cited.  I would suggest he contact an experienced Truck Accident attorney for advice on what his next steps are.
