Florida rest stops going green

Here is some good news for motorists.  Florida truck drivers and other motorists will have something to look forward to on the turnpikes in the near future.  The state will be replacing four of its eight service stations and remodeling others.  The new rest stops will meet the energy and environment design standards endorsed by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The new areas will have enough glass to utilize natural light.  The outside areas will be landscaped with plants that do not need irrigation.  The inside will have healthier food alternatives.  The stops will be all along the 312-mile turnpike.
