Grocery Spill Closes LA Freeway

Archives, Trucking Accidents

Families traveling for Easter weekend celebrations were delayed after a Vons grocery truck accident caused the shutdown of the 5 freeway last Saturday.  All southbound lanes near Norwalk Boulevard were closed as California Highway Patrol diverted traffic.  At around 10AM, the truck hit the center divider and sent debris flying on the road as it drifted toward the right lane.  One north bound lane was also closed due to debris blocking the road and causing a hazard.  The truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported, and no other cars were involved.  About 30 feet of guardrail was damaged and needed to be repaired.
