Fatal accident in Southwest Florida
Clewiston, in Southwest Florida, was the scene of a recent fatal accident. Florida Highway Patrol said witnesses described the accident as sounding like a bomb going off. They could feel the ground under themselves move – and this is from a half a mile away.
According to the Highway Patrol, a 45-year old truck driver stopped his truck on the northbound side of U.S. 27. Another truck driver stopped in front of the broken down rig to offer help. Neither truck was completely off the road. A third driver, not in a truck, drove right into the disabled big rig. One of the big rigs flipped on its side and the other was completely torn apart. The third driver died at the scene.
Both truck drivers are charged with unlawfully stopping in the roadway. It is not known if they will be charged with the third driver’s death.
