Driver dies in fiery semi-truck accident
A 60-year old semi-truck driver was killed the other day in Plant City when he lost control of his truck after hitting a pole, causing it to flip over and burst into flames. The truck was carrying fertilizer. The fire destroyed power lines and street signs. The driver was unable to escape.
The truck driver’s nephew stated that just before the accident occurred, the driver called him and said he was following another truck and felt ill; he was planning on pulling over. He said his uncle had a history of heart problems.
Plant City Fire Rescue teams put the fire out with foam. The trucking company sent teams to monitor a potential hazmat situation. The cause of the fire is under investigation. My condolences go to the family of this man on their tragic loss.
