Garcia & Artigliere Representing Victim of Nursing Home Abuse, Victim was Resident of Facility Owned by Corrupt Management Business
Garcia & Artigliere is representing an elderly woman who was subjected to abuse and neglect at the hands of incompetent nursing home staff. The facility is one of many eldercare centers that are owned by an administrative organization that has faced multiple similar claims.
The victim was a patient of Driftwood Healthcare & Wellness Center, LLC, which is managed by Rockport Administrative Services, LLC and its owner Shlomo Rechnitz. Rechnitz is the owner of multiple, interconnected facilities. His companies have been the subject of several nursing home abuse and neglect cases, as well as claims regarding the organization’s unlawful business practices.
The patient, in this case, was admitted to Driftwood Healthcare & Wellness Center, LLC following a stay at Memorial Hospital of Gardena for pneumonia. Her condition rendered her with limited mobility, so the stay at Driftwood Healthcare & Wellness Center, LLC was intended as a step in rehabilitation. Sadly the facility staff did not provide the patient with the proper treatment and subjected her to neglectful conditions.
In mid-July, the plaintiff was transferred to Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance with an advanced UTI and related conditions including a high fever and sepsis. She was moved back into Driftwood Healthcare & Wellness Center, LLC, where the negligence of the staff resulted in her development of bedsores — a condition which the patient was vulnerable to, and a risk the staff was aware of. The facility hid the victim’s condition from her family, legal representation, and doctors, until she was transferred back to the hospital in August to address her bedsores, a UTI, fever, and a staph infection.
