Garcia & Artigliere Represents Victim of Elder Abuse at College Medical Center
LONG BEACH, California – After enduring elder abuse during her stay at College Medical Center in Long Beach, California, 65 year-old Savina Zerbi has filed a complaint with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, through her guardian ad litem and her legal counsel. In this matter, Ms. Zerbi is represented by Garcia & Artigliere, one of the nation’s leading elder abuse litigation firms.
During her stay at College Medical Center from January 12th-13th in 2019, Ms. Zerbi was subjected to substandard medical care from her designated care custodians. A dementia and cancer patient, Ms. Zerbi had been admitted to the hospital on a 51/50 hold for medication management, due to threats of suicide and mental instability.
Even knowing these circumstances, the hospital staff failed to provide lawful notice of the patient’s transfer back to her living arrangements at Regency Palms Long Beach Assisted Living & Memory Care. After her release on January 13th, Ms. Zerbi was left alone in front of Regency Palms at the hour of 3:00 am, where she spent an hour locked outside.
The injuries that she sustained during this adverse “never” event were severe, and it is likely that the plaintiff will spend the remainder of her life in serious pain. The official complaint alleges that College Medical Center and its parent operator College Health Enterprises caused these injuries by failing to provide adequate supervision, or to properly investigate this event.
At this time, witnesses to the event and anyone with a related case are invited to speak with Ms. Zerbi’s attorneys as soon as possible.
