Country Villa Rehabilitation Center in Irvine Sued for Elder Abuse and Fraud
LONG BEACH, California – Garcia & Artigliere, a nationwide law firm focusing on elder abuse litigation, recently filed a legal complaint against Country Villa Rehabilitation Center in Irvine. This complaint was filed with the Orange County Superior Court, and documents a clear pattern of elder abuse, negligent hiring, and fraud at the nursing care facility.
The action is brought on behalf of Ms. Vera Vernon, now deceased, by her Successor in Interest. According to the complaint, Ms. Vernon was first admitted to Country Villa Rehabilitation Center in 2017, after she suffered a stroke that left her partly paralyzed.
During her residency, Ms. Vernon was subjected to appalling care conditions, which caused her to develop severe bed sores and preventable E. coli infections. She also received medical attention for 10 distinct cases of pneumonia within two years.
In May 2019, Ms. Vernon sustained a preventable leg fracture. Her family was falsely notified by the facility that there was a “bump” on her leg and that she was stable. Within two hours, Ms. Vernon was transferred to the hospital for cardiac arrest and pain from her leg fracture, from which she never recovered.
The attorneys at Garcia & Artigliere are committed to seeing justice observed for Ms. Vernon and her family. Anyone with information about these incidents, or related incidents at Country Villa Rehabilitation Center, is invited to come forward and share their story.
