Kentucky Elder Justice Task Force Investigates Elder Abuse in Care Facilities
On March 30, 2016, the U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ) launched ten regional Elder Justice Task Forces, bringing together agencies that provide services to the elderly in an effort to reduce substandard nursing home care. The Western District of Kentucky was one of the ten districts identified as having an Elder Justice Task Force. Entities represented in the task force include Representatives from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, state Medicaid Fraud Control Units, state Adult Protective Services agencies, Long-Term Care programs, and law enforcement. Through joint investigations, the Elder Justice Task Forces have devoted their strengths and efforts to protect the most vulnerable populations residing in nursing homes and other care facilities.
