Elder Abuse That Leads to Lawsuit
Elder abuse is a continuing legal concern for victims and their families who entrust the care of their loved ones to a nursing home or care facility. Elder abuse is a broad term and can encompass many behaviors that harm, violate or exploit older adults. Assisted living facilities and nursing homes across the nation have been cited for mistreatment and abuse against residents; however, several incidents can go unreported by victims. Many states have enacted Elder Abuse Laws to deter and punish those who mistreat the most frail and vulnerable. There are numerous behaviors, as well as intentional and negligent actions, that can give rise to an elder abuse lawsuit.
