Nursing Assistant Arrested for Financial Exploitation
Vermont authorities have arrested a nursing home employee for 16 counts of financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult and attempted financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
The 36-year-old woman was a licensed nursing assistant at Thompson House Nursing Facility, made cash withdrawals of several thousand dollars and attempted other withdrawals using the credit card of a resident. If convicted, she could face 10 years in prison.
Stories like this are reported all too often, and right here in Arizona as well. News like this makes us stop and think about the people who are caring for our seniors in nursing home facilities. Families trust that the nurses and assistants will do their best to help and care for our loved ones, not exploit them, steal from them or cause harm.
