Truck Accident Killed Two People on Florida Highway
A truck accident in Palm Beach County near Lake Okeechobee killed two people recently. The accident took place on U. S. Highway 27 in South Bay. The driver of a Chrysler, crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler, causing his vehicle to be stuck under the trailer. The driver was hauling sugar cane. The Chrysler burst into flames, engulfing the driver and his female passenger.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department has reports that the driver was speeding at the time of the accident and apparently did not use his brakes. Rescue teams arrived to extinguish the fire; however, it took hours to pull the Chrysler and semi-truck apart. The driver and his unidentified female passenger were already dead when the vehicles were separated. Authorities believe they died upon impact. The truck driver sustained minor injuries to his face.
The accident is under investigation at this time. No citations were issued.
