Trucker Dies in North Florida

Garcia & Artigliere

Recently a trucker pulled off Interstate 95 near the St. Johns County line to check a problem with his tractor-trailer. He was attempting to get back onto I-95 when he was hit from behind by another semi pulling onto the highway. Florida Highway Patrols reports that the first truck pulled in front of the second truck, causing the accident. No tickets were given.

The driver of the first rig died at the scene. The damage to his truck was estimated to be about $100,000. An accident involving two big rigs is unusual. The National Highway Transportation Safety Administration reports that there were 269 fatal Florida truck accidents in 2008.
