3 semi-trucks involved in accident
Did you hear about the terrible accident that happened recently in Kissimmee involving three semi trucks? The accident took place on the Ronald Reagan Turnpike around midnight.
Shortly after midnight, 23-year old man from Sarasota was driving south on the turnpike in the outside lane. Apparently, another 18-wheeler, driven by a 35-year old man, from Hialeah, was on the shoulder of the turnpike and suddenly pulled onto the turnpike directly in front of the man, causing the two trucks to crash. The man tried to avoid the collision but could not. He ended up in the center lane where he hit the guardrail. It continued down the turnpike, crashed into the Boggy Creek Road overpass, and burst into flames from the refrigerator on it. The truck was a Target Stores truck, delivering food items.
A third 18-wheeler was unable to stop when it arrived at the scene. Its fuel tank ruptured and spilled about 200 gallons of diesel fuel onto the turnpike.
The man, his passenger, and his brother, were taken to a nearby hospital in serious condition. Crews worked for hours putting out the fire and removing the debris and diesel fuel spill from the turnpike. The man is being charged with making an improper lane change. The investigation is expected to take several weeks.
I urge the man to consult with an experienced Trucking Accident Attorney who will investigate this accident for him.
