Bed Sores

California Nursing Home Neglect Lawyers: Bed Sores

Injuries are not part of the aging process. Painful and toxic sores — bed sores that develop when nursing home residents are ignored and uncared for — are not part of the aging process. They happen because nursing homes have only the bottom line in mind. Homes cut costs and corners to make a profit. In doing so, they fail to provide the kind of care that elderly adults depend on. And they leave behind victims of severe neglect. At The Garcia Law Firm, we are dedicated to representing the victims of severe bed sores. We hold nursing homes accountable for their actions.

What are Bed Sores?

Bed sores (often called pressure sores, pressure ulcers or decubitus ulcers) develop after a patient is not turned and repositioned as ordered by their physician. They occur due to utter neglect and often become infected by feces and urine. In serious situations they can lead to widespread, untreated infection and death.

These sores often develop on the parts of the body resting against a bed: the tailbone, heels and elbows. And the sad thing is that severe bed sores can almost always be prevented, either by helping an elderly person move to prevent skin breakdown or by providing early treatment.
