March 11, 2010, United States District Court Judge Stephen Wilson granted final approval of the class action settlement against Kendall Floral Supply, LLC in which Stephen M. Garcia of the Garcia Law Firm served as lead counsel. The lawsuit derived from Kendall Floral's misclassification of approximately 307 current and former Kendall Floral merchandisers as independent contractor, exempt from the overtime requirements of wage and hour laws in the State of California.
August 11, 2009 - Los Angeles County Sued For Illegal Taxation - Class Action Lawsuit Challenges Legality of Utility User Tax ("Measure U"). A class action lawsuit (Case #BC419572) was filed today in Los Angeles County Superior Court challenging the enactment on Nov. 8, 2008 of the Utility User Tax ("Measure U"), on unincorporated Los Angeles County individuals and businesses based upon violations of Proposition 13, Proposition 218, the California Elections Code, and the California and United States constitutions.
